Winning a game for your team is the moment most players dream of, whether it’s a winning goal after a siren or a frantic attempt to stop the other team.

While we’re used to watching it at the highest level of sport, it’s easy to forget incredible moments like these that play out every week at suburban courts across the country.

But South Australia’s local AFL player, Bryce Smith, achieved something unique, winning for his team at both ends of the field.

Playing for Colonel Light Garden against the Lockleys in the Adelaide Footy League fifth division, Smith started what turned out to be his team’s victory, but also struggled on defense.

With Colonel Light Gardens increasing by three men, Zain King of the Lockleys lined up what appeared to be the easiest of the match winners, only for Smith to put his body in line.

Jumping in front of King instantly, the ball flew straight into his face, causing him to suspect a broken nose – and saved the goal.

Now it’s about putting your team first.

The local wet-footed hero thought he was going to lose the match for his team after he was flagged by King.

He revealed to Messengerthat he tricked King by giving himself some room.

Smith said: “He was in line and asked the umpire where to mark.

“When he turned around, I snuck back a few meters and then I don’t think he realized where the mark was, so I ran in two steps, jumped as high as I could, and never thought it would hit. into my head. . “

The footage quickly went viral and was even featured on The Sunday AFL Footy Show.

Port Adelaide’s 300 gamer Kane Cornes also shared the video.

It’s an important result as a win for either side would send them to the top of the standings, while a loss would drop the team to fifth. | Local in South Australia, broken nose, viral video, Kane Cornes, Colonel Light Gardens Vs Lockleys
