Lilly Singh agrees that The Bad Guys’ Mr. Wolf is kinda hot

With Bad guys In theaters, we can finally say what a lot of people online are thinking: Yes, Mr. Wolf is very hot. The charismatic thief leads a criminal group of dangerous animals, and there’s something about his swagger that suits other cartoon dog lovers like ZootopiaNick’s Nick Wilde and Disney’s outlaw leader Robin Hood. Luckily, comedian and YouTuber Lilly Singh agrees.

“Mr. wolf To be like a father, I understand that now,” Singh told Polygon. “I never thought about that. But will I slip in the DM? I think I will? I think I will. So I think Mr. Wolf is quite a hot-tempered person. I really think animals have personalities, like a person who I think is flying. So yes, I see all of that. I’m not mad at the Internet for this. “

And as someone deeply familiar with the inner workings of internet fandoms, Singh’s sense of ever-changing online tastes has years of experience to back them up. Singh, who voices reporter Tiffany Fluffit in Bad guys (one of the few humans in a predominantly animal cast), she started YouTube in 2010, creating parody sketches and comedy skits. In 2016, she ranked third on Forbes’ list of highest paid YouTubers. Her career took off from there, and she’s headlined an NBC talk show from 2019 to 2021.

Bad guys This isn’t Singh’s first film or voice acting role – she’s previously voiced a number of tiny unicorns in Ice Age: Collision Course and a deer in Sky Cinema’s Riverdance: The Animated Adventure. But she’s still getting used to the stark contrast between doing content for the Internet and doing voice work for a movie. For one thing, she says it’s fun to see all the separate pieces she makes on a project come together in someone else’s finished work, especially when she’s so used to it. self-recording. But she’s still struggling with the wait to see that finished product.

“I shot a big project that took three days to shoot and now my editors are editing it, and it will be released in the next two days,” she explains. “I can do something for a day or a week, and then I get an immediate response. I voiced this movie [The Bad Guys] for the past three years and it’s coming out now. So I think being patient with this new process is really tough for me, but it’s a good skill to have. ”

The YouTube space has changed dramatically in the 12 years since Singh posted her first video. Today, creators and influencers are everywhere, saturating social networks. It’s easy to forget that back in the day, just over a decade ago, making a living using YouTube was an entirely new idea. Singh is delighted to see how much YouTube has transformed.

“I think it’s more undeniable now,” she said. “When I started in 2010, a lot of people, including my friends and family, were What is your job? Do you earn money? How can you? How can you make a living? Even I questioned all of that.

“I think now the digital space is something that you can’t deny its power, you can’t deny its permanence, you can’t deny its influence. I think now people really value that space and know that it’s a business. Of course, when I started, it was because someone was creative and expressing themselves, but people didn’t really see it as a business. Without a doubt, you can say that people who create online, they are business owners and they certainly have businesses. So that makes me very happy.”

For his voice acting career, Singh is delighted to be a part of Bad guys, which she says is unlike anything she’s seen in cartoons before: an action-packed heist that can break the law of talking animals. And if she gets the chance to voice an animal of her choice below, Singh has some thoughts.

“I feel like an animal that fits [being] misunderstood would be a lion,” she laughed. “I also just thought I would make a pretty cool lion. This is purely a selfish answer. I just want to be a lion.”
