Lightyear trailer sends Buzz to the future where he meets Taika Waititi

Buzz Lightyear’s big test flight didn’t go exactly as he planned in the latest trailer for his new movie, Light year. The movie will tell the story of the original Buzz Lightyear, the intergalactic traveler who inspired the toy hero, and in this latest trailer we’ll see him in action. Light year will hit theaters on June 17.

The trailer starts off by showing us a bit of Buzz’s normal astronaut life, but he’s quickly thrust into the future by accident. When it comes to this mysterious new moment, Buzz encounters hostile cyborgs, including his ultimate nemesis, the Zurg.

Thankfully, he also meets a lovable cast of characters voiced by actors like Taika Waititi (Our flag means death), Keke Palmer (No), and Dale Soules (Orange is the new black). Buzz himself is voiced by Chris Evans, while his best friend, and future niece, is voiced by Uzo Aduba (Orange is the new black).

Light year directed by Angus MacLane, who is also the co-director of Pixar Find Doryand was written by Pete Docter, who wrote Pixar hits like Upward, Contradictory, souland Monsters Inc.
