Lawsuit alleges 5 assaulted by officers at clearing of Toronto homeless encampment – Toronto

TORONTO — 5 individuals who confirmed as much as help residents of a homeless encampment in Toronto because it was being dismantled this summer season have launched a lawsuit alleging they had been assaulted by police.

The lawsuit was filed by Ollie D’Agostino, Skyler Williams, Callista Durose-Moya, Ellie Adekur and Keith Cameron, who had been on the Lamport Stadium encampment on July 21.

It names as defendants the Metropolis of Toronto, the Toronto Police Companies Board and 4 officers.

In a press release of declare, the defendants say they got here, together with many others, to peacefully observe and forestall the encampment residents’ properties from being destroyed.
