Larroudé and Melissa team up on Resort Sandals – WWD

Fashion industry veteran, co-founder and creative director of Larroudé Marina Larroudé is making good on a childhood dream. She and her husband direct-to-consumer shoe brand Ricardo are partnering with Melissa on Larroudé’s signature daisy summer line of skates.
“Growing up in Brazil, Melissa was a big part of my childhood – that’s when my lifelong passion for a pair of shoes and the fashion really begins,” says Larroudé.
“I have the best memory of going to the shoe store with my grandmother to buy a pair of Melissas. I don’t love dolls, I love Melissas. I simply adored them and once begged her for a new pair. They all have a special scent to me, which is a strong sensory memory for me. When the samples arrived, the first thing I did was smell them – enjoy the very scent I remember from my childhood,” she added about the shoe’s bubblegum scent.
The slides come in three colors, purple or blue with white or black daisies with multicolored daisies and are made of 100% recyclable PVC. Larroudé launched its daisy line shortly after launch – attaching the material to kitten heels and loafers. The line was picked up by influencers and quickly sold out – contributing to Larroudé’s initial viral success.
Each pair of Melissa x Larroudé will retail for $90 and be available on both brands’ websites starting today, as well as at Melissa’s stores in New York and Los Angeles.
