Klay Thompson injury update: Steve Kerr says Warriors star defender played fivev five this week as return nears

NS Golden Empire Warriors had NBAbest record, and reinforcements are on their way. According to coach Steve Kerr, the Warriors’ keeper Klay Thompson, who has missed the entire past two seasons due to ACL and Achilles injuries, joins the 5v5 action for the first time this week. This doesn’t mean a return to the action game is imminent for the former All-Star star, but it’s nonetheless a positive sign of progress.

“He plays five against five [Monday] and then I think he’s going to play 5v5 [Wednesday], ” Kerr said after Golden State’s 111-99 win first brooklyn network on Tuesday night. “…I get a good report and he has to move on. Two years out requires a lot of work. It’s not just rehabilitation, it’s endurance, strength, so it’s nice to have he’s playing 5v5 but that doesn’t mean he’ll be ready to hit the NBA floor next week or something, but he’s progressing really well.”

Needless to say, Thompson’s teammates are extremely excited about his return after a 2-year absence.

“It’s huge,” Warriors forward Draymond Green talk about Thompson’s return. “From a mental point of view, it’s also huge. So I think it also helps the way other teams see you. So we’re looking forward to bringing him back. We know him. We don’t expect him to be the 2018 Klay Thompson of the Year right away, but he’s given his all.

In addition to Thompson, Kerr also provides updates on the second year big boy James Wiseman, who has been sidelined since April with a knee injury.

“James [Wiseman] did not play. Kerr said: “The trauma he’s had, everything is clear – no structural problems or anything. It’s an injury that requires a lot of give and take, daily maintenance and check on how he’s doing. Do you remember last year, Jaren Jackson also suffered a similar injury. It has been a long process, but he is doing very well, his attitude is very good and we obviously can’t wait until he is back and can play. We just need to be patient. ”

One month into the season, the Warriors have established themselves as one of the strongest teams in the league at both ends of the ring. The return of Thompson and Wiseman can only make them deeper and more dangerous.
