Kiernan Shipka in ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ Revival: “There’s Room For Something”

On tomorrow’s episode of Riverdale, the years of interlacing in production will eventually occur when Sabrina Spellman (Kiernan Shipka) Appears In The CW’s Hit Series. But with Sabrina returning for the first time since The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina‘untimely canceled by Netflix in 2020, can she make a bigger profit? Like the best of magic tricks, Sabrina probably has at least one more trick.
“I think there’s always the possibility of a reunion in some iteration,” Shipka told Decider. “I don’t know if the show will ever return in a series, but I think there’s still room for something to happen. I think the cast loves each other very much, and we are all dedicated to doing something. “
Produced by Warner Bros., Scary adventure seems to be a consistent success – both in terms of viewers and socially – for Netflix, which is why abrupt cancellation was surprised at the time. And in fact, what was ultimately revealed was that the final installment of the series was originally shot with a supporting scene, a scene that would have left more open. Although additional scenes have been teased before, in development Sabrina’s appearance on Riverdale, host Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa revealed the finished scene on Instagram earlier today:
In the one-minute clip, we start from the streamed end of the series, with Sabrina dead and in the movie Sweet Accident with boyfriend Nick Scratch (Gavin Leatherwood). Then the scene cuts through with Sabrina’s grieving Aunt Zelda (Miranda Otto), who calls on her ex-girlfriend Baron Samedi (very complicated) to help her revive Sabrina.
All of that connected with Sabrina’s appearance on Riverdale, you’ll have to follow along to find out. But in the meantime, Shipka has hinted at the scene and whether it will ever be back on Netflix.
“At the time, we were optimistic that it could [come back], but also know that it might not,” recalls Shipka. “Obviously [we] shoot it in such a way that we can have an ending like an ending. And then there’s that extra scene, too, in case we decide to continue in any way or shape or form. ”
Shipka continued, “It comes at a really hilarious time in the world. We ended up about three weeks before the 2020 COVID lockdown, so no one knew that the world was about to change dramatically, and everything happened, and we couldn’t go back.”
The final episodes of the series streamed on Netflix on December 31, 2020, and although the contract negotiations are not public, Aguirre-Sacasa noted in July that the option for the season will run for about two years – that is, after December 31, 2022, most likely Scary adventure It may be obvious to come back for more clever pleasures of some form. As for what fans should do in the meantime, to find out what happens after that teaser on Instagram?
“I mean they should keep doing their thing,” Shipka said. “The fans are really what keep this show afloat. Fandom is just a huge part of that, so yes. I mean: introduce those concepts. ”
Riverdale Airs every Tuesday at 9 p.m. on The CW.
