Kering’s Women in Motion Brings Vivian Maier Exhibition to Italy – WWD

ITALY CIRCLE: Women in motion will land in Italy for the first time.
Originally aimed at highlighting the work of women in film and art and culture, Women in Motion was founded in 2015 at the Cannes Film Festival.
It is currently supporting the second leg of an exhibition dedicated to photographer Vivian Maier, which will be held from February 9 to June 26 at the Sale Chiablese of the Royal Museums of Turin.
The first memorial service was held in Paris at the Musée du Luxembourg from September 15 to January 16.
The exhibition includes more than 250 black-and-white and color images and videos and curated by Anne Morin, igniting the late American street photographer’s creativity.
Women in Motion is emphasizing the role of women in photography and all their artistic expression, which still harbors profound gender inequalities.
Kering expanded its Women in Motion program in recent years and added a photography award in 2019.
Liz Johnson Artur is the winner of the 2021 Women in Motion Awards for photography, in recognition of Russian-Ghanaian work on African diaspora around the world.
Kering has a close relationship with Italy and its luxury brands, from Gucci and Bottega Veneta to Brioni and Pomellato, and the French luxury group has invested in strengthening its presence over the years.
