Kendra Wilkinson made a name for herself in 2005 when her days at Playboy Mansion as one of Hugh Hefner’s girlfriends were chronicled. The girls next door. Since then, she has been married, divorced, has two children, and starred in a few other reality shows. Now deep in the “single mother life” and ready to rebrand, Wilkinson recently passed his California real estate exam. Kendra Sells Hollywood, now streaming on Discover+, chronicles Wilkinson’s journey to becoming a real estate agent in Los Angeles.
Opening scene: “You might think you know me,” Kendra told us in a face-to-face interview.
Gist: Kendra Wilkinson knows you have an opinion on her. She’s lived in the public eye for more than a decade now, having lived on Playboy Mansion, married and divorced a soccer star, and have a few reality shows of her own. It’s been about three years since she became a single mother, and Wilkinson now feels ready to start a new career. She wants to make her kids proud and start earning some real income again, and for the first time in her life she actually Work. Wilkinson isn’t ashamed of her Playboy Mansion days, but she’s willing to put all of that behind her. After months of studying, she passed the California real estate exam on her first try – and now she wants to start working. Wilkinson scores in a meeting with Douglas Elliman’s team at a luxury Bel Air home that costs $15.7 million, and her skills are put to the test.
Despite her best efforts, the tour of Wilkinson’s house turned out to be a shipwreck, and she believes she has blown up this great opportunity. After this disappointing day, she went to her best friend Jessica’s house to chat over a glass of wine – and was surprised to receive a call from Ernie Carswell, the outspoken group leader. impressed with her performance earlier that day. He told her that they had decided to give her an eight-week trial and that he would personally mentor her, and after that she would either get a spot on the team or be sent out. Her first assignment? To go to the office with potential clients about new properties. Wilkinson’s real estate journey may not have started the way she expected, but it certainly won’t be boring.
What shows will it remind you of? Kendra Sells Hollywood will probably please fans of other flashy real estate series like Sunset sale and million dollar list, in spite of Kendra offers more awkward real estate agent origin stories than those headlines.
Our Take: I was surprised by Kendra Sells Hollywood, a simple little program with a surprisingly large heart. Wilkinson has always been the cutest of the Playboys, so this kind of thing makes complete sense to her. She is completely outspoken about her past, her moments at the bottom, and her deep love for her children. Kendra Sells Hollywood easily could have been fodder for reality yawns to add to the pile, but instead, it felt completely Kendra, allowing her to speak her truth and never mock her. So many others might consider her the highlight, but here, wearing her heart on his sleeve is the big reason why. Kendra Sells Hollywood works as well as it doesn’t. It certainly isn’t the most innovative or exciting new real estate series out there, but it feels like the simplest of them all, low-scale and seemingly authentic.
Kendra Sells Hollywood can be very sweet, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t drama ahead. Team Douglas Elliman’s big eyes and Wilkinson skepticism will obviously play out over the course of the season and lead to some conflict, because what would any reality show be without some good stuff? small? Even so, even with all of this in the mix, we really feel like we’re getting to know Wilkinson behind the platinum and brown hair we’ve seen over the years. By the end of the pilot, Kendra might not have sold Hollywood, but she certainly sold a viewer or two.
Gender and Skin: There are glimpses of Kendra’s days at Playboy Mansion, but overall it’s been pretty good.
Farewell shot: Kendra wiped away tears as she lamented that her past might be preventing her from succeeding in her new career.
Most Pilot-y routes: “If you can’t handle the pressure, this isn’t the right business for you,” feels quite amusing to introduce us to this world and Wilkinson’s anxieties surrounding it, but this kind of thing back to reality TV territory.
Our call: INSTRUCTIONS IT. Kendra Sells Hollywood is a surprisingly engaging little show that takes us on an emotional journey with its famous star and offers a rare glimpse into what it really takes to be an estate agent. produce.
