As a self-proclaimed introvert, Keanu Reeves Always one of those people who only speak when they really have to, but in his case it was always the most profound and thought-provoking words that came out of his mouth.
While Keanu was a reliable actor before 1999 Matrix, the iconic sci-fi series that cemented his name as a major star in the film industry. He portrayed a number of unique characters after Neo, some of whom became huge hits, while others turned out to be sour misses. Of course, until the premiere John Wick in 2014, Keanu reminded the world of his true strength as an action hero. The star has continued that streak with sequels and most recently, with Matrix Recovery, the fourth entry in the story, tells the story after almost 20 years.
But back to Keanu and his raw charisma. I still remember that once the actor appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert when the host jokingly asked him what happens to us when we die. Reeves took a moment to gather his thoughts and said with all seriousness, “I know that the people who love us will miss us,” leaving the audience gasping for breath.
Now, the actor has once again used his great phrasing to describe why he loves acting so much. In a recent conversation with The Drew Barrymore Show, which you can check out below, Keanu had the following to say about his career:
“Acting. My mother said that I stated I wanted to be an actor when I was 15 years old and why would that person ask or say that. I remember acting in school or doing Shakespeare – the feeling of being free is having fun. It’s fun. Believe, but in fact, connection, a group, collaboration… it is shared. Friends, you tell a story. I like stories. Stories help us contextualize the world. I love what happens after someone says action. Then we begin – we are in the moment. It’s fun. So I’m really grateful to be able to make a living and try and have a career with something I love.”
Being able to build a career out of what you love is a dream and we’re happy to hear it by Keanu Reeves managed to get there. Even if for nothing other than the fact that he will continue to give us many commendable performances for many years to come.
