Kanye West Wears Yeezy x Gap Look to ‘Donda’ Release

Red stones! Kanye West appeared at the official release party for his 10th studio album, Donda, presenting an ensemble from his Yeezy and Gap collaboration.

The 44-year-old rapper took to the stage on Thursday, July 22 wearing a brand new round jacket, which has no buttons, zippers, pockets or buckles. He paired his jacket with red pants, adidas Yeezy 1020V Boots and a ski mask, his new go-to accessory.

Style watchers were quick to point out that West, who performed at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, isn’t just a match for his ex. Kim KardashianThe overalls are red, but his latest suit is also reminiscent of a handful of cartoon characters.

Take a quick look at Twitter and it’s alarming that the memes are spiraling out of control.

Many feel that the red Round Jacket, which sold out in blue in June, looks similar to the red Club Penguin character from the cartoon game.

“KANYE in red looks like: #DONDA,” one fan captioned the side-by-side image of West and the penguin standing on an iceberg. Another added: “Kanye said” topic? Club Penguin,” shared a clip of West walking out onto the ice. Another said: “Kanye looks like the last penguin left on the penguin club server.”

But the comparison doesn’t stop there – oh no. Many must also point out that the singer, who shares children North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm with the Skims founder, also looks like Akira, a Japanese cartoon character.

West has previously said that classic anime is his “biggest creative inspiration”.

“Kanye West is a huge fan of Akira which explains that red goes well with #DONDA,” one fan captioned side-by-side of the fictional character and West. “Kanye West cleverly delivered the message about Akira,” another fan chatted.

The memes have gone beyond both, though, with those claiming the star looks like “a walking red flag” and “the Kool Aid man in the odd GAP suit.”

While fans can frolic online, it’s safe to say that the red version of the round jacket will be on sale soon – and likely to sell out.

This is the third shade of the jacket West has worn and is coming soon. Arrive Balenciaga fashion show in Paris earlier this month, the “Gold Digger” singer wore a black version.

And, as of July 23, the black fur coat is available for pre-order. Available for $200, like the blue version before it, the 100% cotton poplin outerwear will ship in winter. It is available in sizes from extra-small to extra-large.

The jacket is currently the only post on Gap’s Instagram page, and the clothing company has changed the logo to represent the “YZY” logo.
