Julie de Libran Opens First Store in Paris – WWD

PARIS – Two years later launch her brand, Julie de Libran opened her first physical location in Paris, an intimate space on the Left Bank that houses both a shop and a workshop, where some of her limited edition designs are made.
The shop at 3 Rue de Luynes, not far from her apartment in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, carries both her jewelry and ready-to-wear pieces made in collaboration with her Chanel– Goossens’ private house. Customers can also make an appointment to order tailoring.
The space is filled with vintage furniture that matches de Libran’s one-on-one approach. So far, she has held in-home appointments and sold her designs online through her own e-store and Matchesfashion, but the designer wanted a more intimate space where clients You can try on clothes at any time.
“Make an appointment is great, but it’s not for everyone,” she says, noting that some people also don’t feel comfortable buying online.
“I mean, I’m old fashioned that way. I don’t buy online, to tell you the truth. I don’t even buy jeans or a t-shirt. It’s just something that I want to try. I love the experience,” she explains.

Formerly an art gallery, the store is open Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays by appointment.
“I wanted to make it like a lounge where people come in for coffee, come and have a glass of Champagne – just for the time being together,” says de Libran, who recently introduced his brand in the US through a series of profiles. giving presentations at locations including New York City and Malibu.
“When I travel with the collection, when I invite in my home, it’s about the exchange,” she added. “Doing this in a more personal way, I realized that really this closeness worked, because of my limited numbers I wasn’t able to really grow any more.”
Before Sonia Rykiel Designers mostly work with deadstock fabrics, which means there are rarely more than 20 examples of any given design. Last year, she also introduced collaborations with lingerie brand Eres and shirt maker Charvet.
Through a partnership with Nona Source, which supplies high-end materials sourced from the fashion houses of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, she now has a little more flexibility to respond to requests. personalization, such as adjusting the length or size of his items.
Meanwhile, her couture creations are made with Chanel-workshops owned by Paloma and Lesage, both located in the French luxury brand New center for craft on the outskirts of Paris.
De Libran is open to expanding distribution in the future, but for now, she’s willing to keep the business small, especially considering the ongoing uncertainty caused by the coronavirus pandemic. “I’m happy to be able to invite people over,” she said.
