In his recent appearance on Spotify‘NS The Bridge: 50 Years of Hip Hop audio files, Juicy J revealed a lot about Three 6 Mafia. For context, the group was founded in 1991 by Juicy J, DJ Paul, and Lord of Disgrace. At various times in the years that followed, the group also included Koopsta Knicca, Gangsta Boo, and Crispy Black. Some Three 6 MafiaThe group’s most popular songs include “Slob On My Knob,” “Stay Fly,” and “Lolli Lolli (Pop That Body).”

Despite the group’s success, it only included Juicy J and DJ Paul in the mid-2000s. After disbanding in 2012, the couple reconnected in 2019 and continued to release music together under Three 6 Mafia.

About the initial downfall of Three 6 Mafia, Juicy J revealed that it has to do with an all-too-common vice: use narcotic. He stated:

“Drugs really made the Three 6 Mafia stand up. The wildest drugs – from heroin to meth to cocaine, all pills. A lot of drugs were consumed during our time together. When everyone is awake and s**t, everyone is on the same page. But when cocaine got involved, everything changed. But I don’t point a number to anyone.”

Juicy J to add:

“That’s the main thing that really makes it all. People weren’t on set… Business was crazy, everything was rushed. It’s drugs. “

He also later shared a heartbreaking story regarding being late Three 6 Mafia Co-Founder Lord of Disgrace and codeine syrup:

“They were sipping [to] where they cannot wake up. In the past, I had to bust out in Lord Infamous’s room and almost burst into tears. At first I thought n***a was dead. So I had to go get the key because he didn’t answer the phone. I knocked on his door. So I had to mess around in his room and hit him a lot [with a pillow] to wake him up… I’ve seen a lot of crazy things… A lot of drugs took the group down. ”
