Jordan Klepper vs. Matt Gaetz on Resurrection Day Jan. 6

A year after he find myself in the middle of the Capitol riots on January 6, Jordan Klepper returned to the crime scene last week. And while he again found a lot of random Trump fanatics for interview, highlights of Daily program The pitch was a chance meeting with Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL).

“Unlike last year, today there is a peace, a calm,” Klepper said in his new dispatch. “A calm almost suggests that perhaps our country is actually healing from the events of that day.” That was, of course, before he found a guy in a “Fuck Biden” t-shirt yelling at CNN’s John King to “go on your own.”

With “our nation’s leaders respectfully divided on how to best remember this day,” Klepper both mocked Democrats like Nancy Pelosi for using Hamilton song to celebrate this moment and Republicans like Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene, who planned to double check the steps of “American patriots” stormed the Capitol.

As it turned out, Klepper caught up with Gaetz just as he was being swept away in his SUV. But he managed to answer a few questions before speeding up.

“Hey Matt Gaetz, if you were going to reenact the events of January 6th, who would play in the studio and also, who would do the gallows?” he asks. “Isn’t this a bit childish, Matt? Or is that what drew you to this? ”

He had better luck getting a real answer from Congressman Ruben Gallego (D-AZ), who told him, “When it comes to cultists, fuck them, I do not care.”
