Jonestown survivor Jackie Speier who has served in Congress since 2008, will not run for re-election in 2022

In the video, Speier also recounts her inevitable survival during the 1978 Jonestown massacre outside a cult complex in Guyana led by Jim Jones. She went there as a legislative aide with her then-boss, Representative Leo Ryan (D-Calif.), on a fact-finding mission following reports of abuse at denomination. As they were about to leave Jonestown, cult members opened fire on them, killing five people, including Ryan. Speier was seriously injured.
