The trial began more than a week ago, but before Tuesday, jurors had only seen the Hollywood star sit in silence with his team of lawyers as each side tried to embarrass the other in a trial. which Heard’s attorney correctly predicted would turn into a mud soap opera.

To date, Depp’s friends, family and staff have testified that Heard was the aggressor in the relationship, assaulting him multiple times. Heard’s former personal assistant testified that Heard spat in her face in anger.

The lawsuit itself is said to have ended whether Heard smeared Depp when she wrote a 2018 edition piece in The Washington Post about domestic violence. In the article, Heard called himself “a public figure representing domestic abuse.”

She never mentioned Depp by name, but Depp and his attorneys say it is a clear connection to allegations Heard made in 2016 when the couple divorced and she sought a divorce. restraining order against him.

Heard’s attorneys, who filed their own lawsuit against Depp, said nothing in this article to defame him. They say the allegations of abuse are true and the damage to Depp’s reputation – which he says got him kicked out of the lucrative “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie franchise – comes from bad behavior his own.

Depp’s testimony is expected to last into Wednesday. Heard is scheduled to testify later in the trial.
