John Krasinski refuses to film the ‘office’ scene where Jim cheats on Pam

Jim (John Krasinsky) and Pam’s (Jenna Fischer) a relationship that has its fair share of ups and downs over the nine seasons Office. Fans may remember that in Season 8, the fan-favorite couple was threatened when Pam was on maternity leave and replaced by office administrator Cathy (Lindsey Broad). She openly loved Jim throughout the season, and Office showrunner Greg Daniels wanted to take things a step further by letting Jim and Cathy speak for themselves on a business trip. However, Krasinski refused to film the scene.

“That was the only time I remember putting my foot down,” Krasinki writes in his new book, Welcome to Dunder Mifflin: The Office’s Ultimate Oral History (every Uproxx). “I remember saying things that I never thought I would say before, like, I’m not going to shoot it.”

He continued: “My feeling is that there is a threshold where you can push the audience. They are very dedicated. We have shown great respect to them. But there comes a time when if you push them too far, they will never come back. And I think if you show Jim cheating, they’ll never come back.”

Daniels remained the same idea. “I feel so nervous about fan interaction,” he said. “I think they know what to expect. They’re very comfortable with the show they’re getting, and I need to worry about them that maybe I’ll give them a bad ending so they’ll be happy when they get a good ending.”

In the summer of 2020, Broad shared that she is still being harassedd by fans of Office for playing the character that threatened Jim and Pam’s relationship. “If someone is wondering what it’s like on Office, the best comedy of this century: I just posted something on Instagram about how my dog ​​was murdered and a bunch of people said: ‘F*ck you, Cathy, she deserves it. so!’ Therefore. Go! ” she wrote on Instagram at the time.
