Joe Willock: Steve Bruce says Newcastle want to sign midfielder but are waiting on Arsenal and player’s decision | Football News

Newcastle manager Steve Bruce says he still wants to bring Joe Villalock back to the club, but is waiting for Arsenal and the player himself to determine his future.
Newcastle are hopeful that Emile Smith Rowe’s new contract at Arsenal could speed up their move to team-mate Willock.
Willock scored eight times during Bruce’s 14 Premier League appearances, setting a new record and becoming the youngest player to score in seven consecutive games.
Newcastle have spoken to the Gunners about Willock’s existence and Bruce has admitted that the Magpies are forced to wait for Arsenal and the midfielder’s decision.
When asked about the deal after a friendly before the Newcastle season in Doncaster on Friday, Bruce told S.C.ky Sports News: “You have to ask Arsenal, it’s their decision and it’s the player’s decision.
“Of course we want to bring him back, he did great with us and gives us another dimension in midfield that we don’t have.
“We’re ignoring that.”
Wilson remained unchanged from the № 9 pressure
About 3,500 Newcastle fans traveled to Keepmoat Stadium to watch Newcastle’s 3-2 friendly win over Doncaster on Friday.
It was the first time Callum Wilson had played and scored in front of Newcastle fans despite being a year at the club.
Wilson also wore the No. 9 jersey for the first time after being given the shirt by his team-mate Joelinton.
“It’s great to lose in the pre-season, to find that feeling again at the gate and speed up the season,” he said.
“Having a shirt is great, but I try not to think too much about it because it can affect your game. Eventually you play for the breastplate in front and try to score goals for the team. “
