There seems to be a war of words going on between the Jet plane Coaches Robert Saleh and Rex Ryan. The former New York head coach holds nothing back about this current iteration of the Jets, who are 2-7 for the season, including the current four-game period where they have give up 175 points. On Monday, Ryan put Saleh on the bench and called him off the field during New York’s difficult start, particularly on the defensive side of the ball, which is arguably Saleh’s specialty as is the former defensive coordinator of 49ers.
Ryan told ESPN “DiPietro and Rothenberg Podcast,” as transcribed by SNY. “Bart [Scott] told me that, ‘Oh no, their defense is playing hard.’ How am I? No they do not. This is a terrible defense. Now they’ll use, ‘Well now we didn’t have our safety.’ So what? Everyone has a million injuries, let alone the above-average level of safety you’re lacking. I remember playing no five corners. It has never looked like this. We were fifth in the league defensively that year.
“Statistically, for a while they’re like a top defender. Here’s something they’ll be familiar with: Four out of five years, 49 players died the last time in their division. So, he’s going to die again, so he’s used to that.”

Ryan also seems to have a problem with his comparison with Saleh. When he first arrived in New York, Ryan had a first-round rookie quarterback in Mark Sanchez to the AFC Championship match and get to play in the AFC East right from the gate. So far, Saleh seems to be on a different path.
Ryan said: “I’m a bit annoyed by this guy, his background is very similar to yours. No, no, no, no.” would look like me like a defensive guy or whatever. I already know how to handle a rookie midfielder. I’ve also never been kicked in the ass like this in a 4 game fight.… Never make excuses and never question a product like this. “
Naturally, Ryan’s comments were sent back to Saleh when the coach answered on ESPN’s “The Michael Kay Show” and noted that he wasn’t surprised when he said, “He’s always had something something to say.” Saleh also emphasized that the two had never met before.
“Obviously, if it’s personal to him, he knows where to look for me,” added Saleh.
Jet will hold Dolphin at MetLife Stadium on Sunday for the Week 11 divisional game.
