January 6, Capitol rioter Mark Middleton is running for election in Texas as a Republican

Middleton, 52, is running for a seat in the Texas House of Representatives, months after he and his wife, 51, were indicted for assaulting two DC police officers, according to a public filing on the website of the Secretary of State of Texas. The Texas Republican Party accepted his nomination to challenge Rep. David Spiller of the state, an incumbent GOP member in Jacksboro, Tex., in the March 2022 primaries.
