We’re learning about lore in the exciting depth of space travel Guardians of the Galaxy The superhero movie line is none other than director James Gunn.
The Trimmer director known for giving behind-the-scenes tidbits and mythological insights into his films on Twitter.
The latest social media post was in response to a fan’s question about having noticed Vin Diesel’s Baby Groot, the cute CGI talking tree in the movie, eating what appears to be urine. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. II.
“They’re definitely not Skittles,” Gunn wrote. “But Baby Groot clearly liked Star-Lord’s space candy.”
He added that you can see candy wrappers all over Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill ship, AKA Star-Lord, in the first season Guardians movie. Check out the tweet for yourself right here.
On closer inspection of the candies, although they come in many of the same colors as Skittles, they appear flatter and squarer than the beloved Terran candies.
A bit of minutiae is another reason why we love Gunn’s insightful interpretation of the seemingly innocuous things in his films.
An earlier example of this is Gunn sharing how all elements of the design and function of the Laser drill in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. II was actually printed by the director himself on a whiteboard sketch with a dry erase marker.
We’ll have to see if the coveted candies come back when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. III, Currently in production, released May 5, 2023.
