James Gunn Explains Peacemaker’s Obsession With Metallic Hair

If you watched the first five episodes of People of Peace, then you’ll be fully aware that creator James Gunn and his DCEU corner living characters both enjoy some classic hair.

The filmmaker who became famous for his needlework Guardians of the Galaxy, Suicide Squad and then his HBO Max spin-off series, but there’s a reason behind the constant bombardment of irresistible catchy tunes, as he revealed in a recent roundtable interview. Comic.

“I think it’s the music that speaks to the spirit of Peacemaker. He loves metallic hair. But I also think it says a lot about what his dad isn’t. That is androgyny. I think of Peacemaker taking home a Hanoi Rocks album with all the boys in makeup, fishnet socks and everything else.”

I think of him carrying a Motley Crue album with the satanic symbol on the front. And those are direct ties to who his father is. So I feel like the music is something that belongs to Peacemaker, and as the series goes on, we see a number of reasons why that’s the case. ”
