Jackie Chan carries the Olympic torch along the Great Wall of China

Construction of the Beijing Winter Olympics is now in full swing, with the Olympic torch traveling across the country. And, on February 3, Jackie Chan carry the iconic flame through one of the most famous landmarks in the world.
Best known in the US for his roles in legendary action and comedy films such as Police Story, Shanghai Noonand Peak franchise, Chan carried the torch along the Great Wall of China as part of a lantern procession.
Despite the region experiencing frigid weather with temperatures hitting -11 degrees Celsius (12 degrees Fahrenheit), Chan and several Chinese Olympic medalists carried the torch across the Badaling portion of the Great Wall. Truong Thanh. First built during the Ming Dynasty in 1500 AD, Badaling is the best known and most visited part of the Great Wall.
In 1957, it became the first part of the Great Wall to be opened to tourists. Today, millions of people visit this stretch of the Great Wall every year.
After completing his run, Chan spoke to the gathered reporters. Based on Reuters, the star said, “I woke up at 4 a.m. This is my fourth Olympics. I’m very happy. I’m cold too! ”
In the relay, Chan was joined by Ma Long, who is considered the best table tennis player of all time. Ma Long is the 5-time Olympic champion who won the gold medal in the singles event in 2016 and 2020 and the 3-time champion in the team event.
Jackie Chan also joins Wu Jingyu, a Taekwondo star who won gold medals at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the torch relay was shorter than in previous years, the entire event lasting only three days. After completing the run, the torch began its journey to Zhangjiakou, the Hebei province region, where most of this year’s Winter Olympics snow events will take place.
The torch will play a key role in Friday’s opening ceremony, where it will be used as part of the traditional Olympic flame lighting.
The Beijing Winter Olympics will take place from February 4, 2022 to February 20, 2022.
