Israel halts controversial East Jerusalem settlement plan

More than 200,000 Israeli settlers live in east Jerusalem and nearly 500,000 live in scattered settlements across the occupied West Bank. Current Prime Minister of Israel, Naftali Bennett, was a strong supporter of settlements and opposed to Palestinian statehood.
