Is the Halo TV series canon? Silver Timeline explained

The Halo TV series canon will be “significantly” different from the established lore for games, such as the recently released Halo Infinite, as well as various comic books and books based on the game, but will also use existing lore events “wherever they make sense for a linear story.” However, the series and games will be on “separate timelines”. So what is the Halo TV show Silver Timeline about?
Does the Halo TV series fit the game?
The Halo TV series won’t fully follow the series rules already in place from the games and books, though the show will “use existing Halo lore, history, classics, and characters” whenever what they mean.
Based on Halo Franchise Creative Director Frank O’Connor, the Halo 2022 show and game will follow “two parallel timelines, VERY similar, but ultimately separate.” In other words, a lot about the Halo show will be familiar to fans, but could be “different in subtle and not-so-subtle ways” depending on what’s needed for the plot to be told.
The producers actually suggested that the drama may not stick to the Halo source material back in 2019, so it looks like they’re continuing that plan. Frank O’Conner refers to the Halo show as being part of a “silver timeline” where things could turn out differently from what fans might expect. An example given is from the first episode, where the coincidence from Halo: Combat Evolved about “Chief and Cortana simply stumbled across the missing Halo ring”, so it looks like in the show , The Pillar of Autumn may have been intentionally sent to the following first halo The Fall of Reach.
