Is Halo Infinite Open-World in Campaign?

Previous Halo campaigns were linear work, but 343 Industries promise something new this time period and players are expecting a lot after delay year. Fans were wondering if the campaign in Halo Infinite is open world, this will be the first world for the series. However, the answer lies somewhere in between the two extremes. It’s not entirely linear, and it’s not an open world (or a circle) to explore.

Halo Infinite is open world or linear?

Halo Infinite is open world or linear

Halo Infinite is open world, at least in the sense that players can freely explore parts of the environment at their leisure. However, the task structure is linear. Multiple points of no return scattered throughout the game effectively lock the player out of previous areas.

Like other open world games, Halo Infinite has a lot of activities that the player can freely complete. There are Marine detachments to be rescued, FOBs to be captured, Spartan Cores (to upgrade) to be found, and bonuses to complete, among others. However, all of this is more focused than we see in many open world titles. They are quick to complete, and the player is often confined to a small area when doing so.

Most of the main quests will unlock one part of the map while closing another. This means that players must complete all the activities in an area if they want to maximize their rewards. This is what makes Halo Infinite a mix of linear and open-world gameplay since the player doesn’t have complete freedom to roam around the map. It somewhat suppresses the lack of urgency that characterizes many open world games and keeps things in focus.

We still haven’t had a chance to complete the Halo Infinite campaign on our own, so we’re not sure if the map will fully unfold near the end. However, there is a chance it will transform into a fully open world near the end allowing players to go back and complete unfinished activities.
