Irony: Hypocrite Lebron James received a sick gift from China that was not made by a slave

NBA star LeBron James has long been sponsored by companies that make products in China. According to a new report, he has now received something from the country that he did not bargain for.

On Tuesday, TMZ Sports reports James has tested positive for COVID-19. He missed the Los Angeles Lakers game against the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night because of NBA health and safety protocols.

While The Athletic’s reporter Shams Charania stopped to confirm the positive test result for James, he confirmed James joined health and safety protocols. Under NBA rules, he will be sidelined for 10 days or until he receives two consecutive negative tests in a 24-hour period.

In September, CBS Sports reports LeBron James is fully vaccinated against COVID-19. He said he was “very skeptical” at first, but he decided to get the vaccine after doing his own research.

James has a lifetime contract with sportswear company Nike, Deadline reported. The company has been criticized for having ties to Chinese slave labor.

Was LeBron James’ potential COVID-19 diagnosis ironic?

In an article in March 2020, Forbes reports 83 multinational companies including Nike, Apple and Microsoft were linked to forced labor in a study by the Australian Strategic Policy Institute.

According to the researchers, the Uighurs, a persecuted minority from China’s western Xinjiang region, were sent to work in factories in other provinces in different ways. lawsuits ‘especially forced labor’, Forbes said.

Boston Celtics Center, Enes Kanter Freedom, who recently earned US Citizenship, has repeatedly criticized James for his refusal to condemn the Uighur genocide in China.

Freedom wrote in a tweet in November: “Money over morality for ‘King”. “It’s sad and disgusting how these athletes pretend to care about social justice.”

“They were really ‘silent and deceitful’ when Big Boss said that. Did you educate yourself about the slave labor that made your shoes or was it not part of your studies? “

Freedom also wears the shoes pictured in the tweet above, which shows LeBron James kneeling for the President of China Xi Jinping, in the Celtics’ November 19 game against the Lakers.

Instead of addressing his relationship with a company that allegedly used slave labor in China, James simply denied Freedom’s criticisms.

“If you know me, I don’t really give too many people my energy,” he said of Freedom, according to Deadline. “He’s definitely someone I wouldn’t devote my energies to.”

Despite his refusal to condemn the repressive regime in China, James remains an outspoken supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Freedom has deemed Nike and James’ pro-BLM stance hypocritical given their stance towards China.

“I feel sure it’s time for athletes to stand up for what they believe in… not just in the US… but around the world,” Freedom told reporters on Tuesday, according to a statement. ESPN.

After James reported testing positive for COVID-19 the virus originated in China, many Twitter users pointed out the irony.

James has missed more than half of the Lakers’ games this season, WKBN-TV reported. Tuesday marked his 12th game to be missed from just 23 competitions so far in the 2021-22 season.
