IPL Fantasy 2022 selection: Mumbai Indians vs Sunrisers Hyderabad

The Sunrisers of Hyderabad will take on Mumbai Indians as MI struggles to survive in this year’s Indian Premier League.
The Mumbai Indians are historically the most successful team in the Indian Premier League, but 2022 wasn’t their year.
In 12 games they have only had three wins, most recently on Thursday 12 May against MS Dhoni’s team, Chennai Super Kings.
The two teams each have five league stage games left to battle for a place in the knockout stages. However, with MI sitting 10th in the table and Sunrisers Hyderabad suffering five straight defeats, it’s likely both sides will need a miracle to advance to the next round.
The Sunrisers’ last win came against Royal Challengers Bangalore almost a month ago and Kane Williamson will be hoping to bring his team back from the brink to salvage what little hope they have left.
As the two squads prepare to face off in their 13th IPL game, let’s take a look at what could be their dream fantasy team…
When does Sunrisers Hyderabad vs. Mumbai Indians?
SRH and MI will meet today, Tuesday 17th April 2022 and the game is scheduled to start at 15:00 BST. All the action from the IPL can be watched on Sky Sports Cricket.
Who is in our Dream11?
Captain: Nicholas Pooran
Trinidadian cricketer Nicholas Pooran was a safe pair of hands for SRH at this year’s IPL. He is the current West Indies captain with a limited game of cricket which gives him the experience needed to lead the troops.
He enjoyed an IPL average of 43.83 this year and a high score of 64*.
Vice-Captain: Tilak Varma
Varma was his side’s best hope in an otherwise deeply depressing tournament. In his first season in the IPL, he hit 368 runs with a 40.89 average and Indian Test captain Rohit Sharma said of his player: “I have a feeling that (Varma) will soon be an all-format player for India. Things are looking rosy for him.”
Jasper Bumrah is always a safe bet. His dangerous action has seen him win 11 wickets so far in the tournament, with an innings-best of 5/10.
Bumrah, who leads the bowling attack for the Mumbai Indians, will create chances at every opportunity in the game while helping keep run-rate down.
His speed was destructive and despite a slightly higher than desirable economy, his wicket record proves that is a price SRH was willing to bear.
Suryakumar Yadav would have been an absolute certainty in this Dream XI had he not been ruled out for the remainder of the tournament due to a left forearm muscle injury.
He has a 2022 IPL batting average of 43.29 and hit 303 of 208 balls in his eight innings.
Kane Williamson is another who missed the cut for this match. The New Zealand captain underperformed his peers in terms of runs scored and batting average.
His batting average is under 100 – an unusual sight in the explosive limited overs tournament. He is replaced by Aiden Markram, who has a total of 358 runs with 253 balls. He’s enjoying an impressive batting average of 59.67 so far this tournament and has the highest scoring 68*.
