Innocent man killed as vigilante searches for kidnapped 1-year-old Blaise Barnett, Georgia Police say

A terrifying kidnapping ordeal in Georgia ended with the best possible outcome last week when a family was reunited with their missing 1-year-old boy, but police are now saying a The innocent 60-year-old man was shot dead when several of the child’s families were on high alert during the tumultuous hours following his disappearance.

Two members of the search team Blaise Barnett, 1, are currently facing murder charges. They are accused of being involved in the shooting that killed 60-year-old Aziz Hassan. Hassan was shot down late last Wednesday at Brannon Hill Condominiums in Clarkston, where the family’s Ford was found empty Wednesday afternoon, hours after it was stolen by an unknown perpetrator with a child. The boy – who was taken with the family SUV early Wednesday morning – showed up the next day, a mile from his home, placed in an SUV in a woman’s driveway. Police have yet to identify the suspect in the baby’s disappearance, and it remains unclear where he was during the 36 hours he went missing.

But his family members don’t seem to have wasted any time looking for him.

Residents of the apartment complex where the family SUV overturned said the boy’s relatives arrived in the area that night, going door-to-door through the night and asking residents if they had him.

“That night, I didn’t sleep because they were knocking on the door and they were so loud, screaming,” Fowsia Abdullhai is quoted as telling Atlanta. Channel 2 News Action. “Knock on people’s doors and ask, ‘Can we look around and check if you have a son, a missing son?'”

Authorities say that it was during this frantic search that Hassan was shot dead.

The circumstances of the shooting are not entirely clear, but police say Hassan was killed in some sort of disagreement. Delarius Miller and Santana Miller, the child’s father’s cousins, have been taken into custody and both face murder charges.

A spokesman for DeKalb County police told Channel 2: “There is no evidence that Mr Hassan was involved in the kidnapping of the 1-year-old child.

Residents of the apartment complex said they heard knocking on their doors throughout the night, with the noise abruptly stopping just after gunfire broke out.

“I don’t know why they did it,” a resident of the complex identified as Abdullah told WSB-TV. He said Hassan had come to the US with his family to escape the violence in his hometown.

News of his death and its connection to the kidnapping comes just days after the town of Clarkston was urged to “breathe a sigh of relief” at the news that the boy had been found.

The police at the time celebrated the positive results: “While the investigation continues, we all pause to celebrate this joyful moment knowing that Blaise is safe and now reunited with his family.” | Innocent man killed as vigilante searches for kidnapped 1-year-old Blaise Barnett, Georgia Police say
