Inexplicable ‘blinking’ light interrupts Yankees-Red Sox game

False alarm.
Yankees 9-1 win over Red Sox Sunday night was delayed at the end of season seven, with DJ LeMahieu on the plate, when Boston catcher Christian Vazquez appeared to point the light to umpire Manny Gonzalez. After discussion with the yard staff, the game will continue.
With all the discussion about the use of technology Illegally stealing signs in recent years, it’s easy to suspect something nefarious, but both teams say there’s no problem.
“It was a light, like a spotlight, emanating from above the monuments [in center field],” said Boston CEO Alex Cora. “They have windows. There was a flashing red light in the middle of the field. Then it is white. But no big deal, to be honest with you. But [Vazquez] noticed it immediately in LeMahieu at-bat. “
Aaron Boone said Gary Sanchez noticed the same thing while he was catching and was unsure of its origin.
“I don’t know where it came from,” Boone said. “We’ll try to find an explanation.”
