Indie MMO Spotlight: Launch Roadmap, Immersive and VR

With a flurry of updates, patches, and announcements, it looks like all of our favorite indie developers are back from vacation and hard work. It’s not just Indie MMO Spotlight regulators, with some of our lesser-seen developers finding their way into the news this week. So waste your time and stay on top of the news with this week’s Indie MMO Spotlight.
Travelling book
Permadeath is always the subject of debate because Robot community, and Might & Delight had to turn off permadeath shortly after launch to prevent players from losing characters due to bugs and glitches. Might & Delight revisits the theme of permanence in a community update about Travelling book Steam’s page shares some insight into how they plan to add depth to a journey after a character’s death.
Chimeraland
Chimeraland was released just over a week ago, and along with its first patch, the MMO is having its first special event, the Snoweve Party.

Cinderstone Online
Since the name change in July, it’s been pretty quiet on Cinderstone Online news feed. A post on Cinderstone Online The Steam page assures us that the team is still working hard on implementing new mechanics in preparation for the Open Beta. In an effort to be more transparent about the development process, they released a percentage route to track their progress
Cycle: Border
Yager Development resumed the interview round late last year. They continue this week’s series of interviews between Twitch streamers and Yager staff with a Conversation between streamer BlackOni and Oliver “Wayward” Hildebrandt, Direct manufacturer at Yager Development.
Dual universe
Novalogic shared an update high level route for Dual universe this week. The big addition to the roadmap is the Panacea update. Slated for release in winter 2022, the Panacea update will provide an improved set of tools for beginners as well as veteran voxel manipulators.
Farwoods
After a few months of inactivity, r/MMORPG subreddit for Spotlight developers There is a new entry this week. A niche within a niche, Farwoods is an immersively executed graphical MUD inspired by Redwall and Watership Down. A pure passion project currently in Open Alpha, Farwoods Free to play with absolutely no microtransactions. There aren’t any NPCs or PvE content either, so if you’re looking for a world where all the content is driven by RPG, Farwoods could be the MMO you’re looking for.
Foxhole
On Tuesday, January 11, a new war broke out on the Live-1 server. If you haven’t engaged the enemy yet, now is the perfect time to grab your rifle (or tank) and duplicate it on the front lines.
Fractured Online
The third and fourth parts of Fractured Online’s Feature highlights were posted this week. Spotlight #3 mentioned the Knowledge System, specifically how character progression in FO. Spotlight #4 builds on that knowledge by taking a more in-depth look at the different schools of magic and combat that players will have access to.
Gloria Vicits
The Christmas event has ended this week and you have until the new Glorious Season begins on January 20 to submit your gingerbread and sweets for your rewards. And be sure to check Weekly update 302 to see all the QoL improvements and bug fixes the dev team rolled out this week.
OrbusVR
ONE new blog post new Temple of Ma’at battlefield highlights posted this week. The post also mentions that players will be able to get a cape, cake, and penguin suit (if you don’t already own it) during the 4th anniversary event starting on January 18.
Past fate
Patch 0.3.3 came out this week, adding more skill system to the character Past fate. The patch also carries a lot other improvements and bug fixes.
Blasphemy
January was a month full of updated MMO roadmaps and developer INSANE joined in with an updated roadmap for Blasphemy. Instead of trying to predict the exact date each item in the roadmap will be completed, each card has a progress bar to indicate how close it is to completion.
