Indie MMO Spotlight: Jobs, Developer Interviews, and Fishing

Welcome back to another series of indie MMO news. This week has been a bit quieter than usual, but what it lacks in quantity, the indie MMO universe has quality. There are a lot of test events coming up and some MMOs have already started their Christmas events. With all that in mind, I expect the last few weeks of the year to be a busy one for our favorite indie developers. Speaking of being busy, it’s time to get busy reading this week’s Indie MMO Highlights.

BitCraft

There’s a question that has plagued the MMO community for decades – how many concurrent players does a game need before it can be considered an MMO? For multiplayer, though, there’s a far more important question – does your MMO fish? And a recent tweet from BitCraft answered that question.

Cycle: Border

Yager Development sent out their first invitation to the Centralized Test Team for Cycle: Border. There’s also a trio of interviews with developers this week. First, Youtuber Geekseh interviewed Core Team Leader – Producer Christopher Sykora about the future of TCF. Once you’re done watching, head over to Twitch where you’ll find it Inviicta Interview with Creative Director Dan Banefelt and j0rdanmerrill chat with Influencer Marketing Manager Adam Cleaver.

Dual universe

NovaQuark published DU Newsletter December this week. Along with a quick look at the Demeter patch updates, there’s also a Beta recap video that takes a look at some of the biggest changes and improvements added during the Beta cycle.

Genfanad

If you like the former Genfanad Alpha test, you’ll be happy to know that the next test is scheduled for later this month. The aptly named Winter Wonders will be held from December 24 to January 3, and you can get all the details above Genfanad website. It’s a pretty cool gift for all the school-age MMOers out there.

Gloria Victis

It’s time Weekly update 298. This week there’s discussion of upcoming changes to make combat faster, but the bulk of the newsletter is for new and returning players. There are several videos to help you get up to speed and the question “What to do in Gloria Victis“Infographics highlight all the current activities a player can perform.

Ilysia

Kosmos, T21 Community Manager, stopped at Ilysia Discord to let everyone know that all is going well with work on the Alpha 2 client. It looks like the feature set is complete and most of their efforts are going towards fixing the bug. Ahead of the signing, they also released a quick trailer for the new avatars players will see in Alpha 2.

Perpetuum online

NS Open Perpetuum the team released Patch 27 last weekend, adding Gamma: Phase 2 to the mech-based MMO. You can read all about the Phase 2 additions in OP Devlog.

NS Blasphemy The Twitter account shared a video to give us a quick look at the character creation screen update they’re working on. Be sure to let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Prosperous universe

In Developer Diary #313, Michi is asking the community for help with the lore of PU Notebook. Nick mentioned the mysterious project they all kept hidden before continuing to discuss his work with all things marketing.

Ravendawn

NS Ravendawn the team is currently recruiting for two positions – Market Researcher and Graphic designer.

Kingdom of the Mad God

This week, RotMG Blog mentioned Oryx 3 difficulty, mentioned a few new eventand introduce us to Discord Mod Faffy. Also had More updates for Kensei, you can try on the test server.

Villagers & Heroes

The Haunted Moors event ends on Monday, December 6. However, the festivities are just getting started, and the Haunted Moors’ departure marks the beginning of Christmas 2021 in V&Family. New skins, Snow Leopard mounts and new quests are just the beginning. Be sure to check it out fully 4.67 patch notes to make sure you don’t miss out on any gadgets this holiday season.

World Seeds

With 47 days left for World Seeds Kickstarter campaign, still a long way from reaching the $8751 goal. You can find out all the details on World Seeds Kickstarter page.

Zenith: The Last City

There is a new trailer for the upcoming Zenith MMO Beta 2. With an updated release date of early 2022, Beta 2 will be the last chance for players to see the progress Ramen VR has made in the world and gameplay before the end of the year.
