Indie MMO Spotlight: 2022 Roadmap, Release Date and Launch Announcement

January could be a slow month for the gaming industry. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case with indie MMO development. The new year is just a week away and we’ve got our first standalone MMO release with the second coming before the end of the month. With so much going on, there’s a lot to go through, so let’s get started with this week’s Indie MMO Spotlight.

Travelling book

Travelling book had a rough ending in 2021, but developer Might & Delight has still confident that TMO will, “continue our journey to becoming the RPG experience of our dreams.” Final, Might & Delight announced that two more levels – a mountain forest to the west and Underbelly underground – will be rolled out in the near future. Players can also look forward to more character customization options as they perfect the new customization tools.

Ranking is broken

Whitemoon Games is one of the quieter indie developers, so when they make an announcement it’s usually something big. Such was the case this week when they announced that Ranking is broken will release on January 25, 2022.


MMO that collects animals Chimeraland releasing already on iOS, Android, and PC in Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines this week. Although no official date has been announced yet, Chimeraland It is expected to arrive in other regions of the world later this year.

Cycle: Border

Episode 3 in the Life on Fortuna III series premiered this week. You can watch the show on Twitch.

Dragon and House

I found a new addition to Indie Spotlight while browsing the MMORPG subreddit. Dragon and House released in August 2021 and is a free sandbox MMORPG with Minecraft look. You can see what HIG developer has in store for 2022 in this announcement posted D&Family Steam page this week.

Sword Ember

This week Sword Ember Our podcast was introduced to team member Christoffer Erlang, Operations Manager at Bright Star Studios. You can listen and see what makes Chris tick Sword Ember Youtube Channel or wherever you listen to podcasts.

Fractured Online

Are you ready for some Fractured Online legend? ONE new post on FO website explains the history of how Elysium was divided into three worlds and what players can expect to find on each world. The post also discusses travel ideas in Fractured Online and how it affects the survival aspects of the MMO.

There was also a post from earlier this week that preview three races you can choose from and how Dynamight Studios intends to make choosing a race meaningful.

Gloria Victis

The Gloria Victis the team is back on track with Weekly Update #301. While there aren’t any major additions or improvements this week, the update is still full of QoL improvements and bug fixes.

There is a new patch for this week. Along with some changes to the Gloomfury balance, the minimap has received an update. Minimaps have now increased in quality and resolution, and can be zoomed in and out with the mouse wheel.

Mist . Heritage

Kingdom of the Mad God

Starting Tuesday, January 11, you won’t need runes to into the Holy Land. The free entries only last for a week, with the event ending on the 18th. That’s not the only event happening in the series. RotMG this month, so be sure to check out the blog posts about Discord event and Weekly in-game event.

The Wagadu . Chronicles

Above The Wagadu . Chronicles Twitter, Twin Drums tease a big announcement will come next week. To entice you until then, the tweet also introduced artwork for some new animals.

World Seeds

Before World Seed 2.0 release, World Seed 1.0 has been renamed World Seed Classic On steam. In other news, World Seeds Kickstarter no OK. With 13 days left, 31 backers have pledged $1515, far short of the $8839 goal.
