After years of waiting, Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining pearls is finally here, and the fan reaction has been decidedly mixed. While many seem to have found something rewarding or at least entertaining in the Gen 4 remakes, other fans have noted some visual and mechanical issues in the game. . One Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining pearls Recently players compared some screenshots taken from the Sinnoh remake with screenshots taken from the original Diamond Pokemon and Pearl.
One of the biggest changes made between the original Gen 4 Pokemon Gen 4 games and remakes are Pokemon series of conversions from 2D sprite graphics to 3D models. The two art styles show very different styles of visual representation. In an attempt to combine them, Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining pearls elements characteristic of both aesthetic lanes, can be a bit of a problem.
Redditor Fern-ando has shared several images of players walking with Pokemon through towns to showcase the difference between the graphics of the original game and the graphics of the remakes. Original Diamond Pokemon and Pearl features heavily stylized chibi graphics and miniature screens that make the world feel like a dollhouse. However, the remakes seem to combine doll-like trees and buildings with roads and mean object proportions on a much larger scale. It also appears that Pokemon exist on a much smaller scale than the player in the remake, which was not the case in the original.
In the screenshot, the player is shown walking with Hoenn Legendaries Groudon and Rayquaza as well as Giratina, one of the Legendary Pokemon of Sinnoh. Screenshots taken from the original games depict Legendaries towering over the player at a trot – or floating, in Rayquaza’s case – right above the avatar’s heel.
Combined with the smaller scale of the environment and the rather small and stylized player avatars, this makes the Legendaries appear larger. In contrast, the screenshots taken from the remake show the world as large and spread out, the player avatars being more detailed anthropomorphic, and the Legendaries significantly smaller than the original.
Fern-ando commented in the post that this is intended to refute any Pokemon fans argue that Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining pearlsfollower animation aims to recreate the following animations of the original game. It seems to point to an art-style dissonance that makes the giant Pokemon look small and unscathed. Additionally, it draws attention to how larger and more spread environments can mess with Pokemon game ‘traditional presentation.
