Illinois is the first U.S. state to ban police from lying to minors during interrogation

Swift, who was sentenced to 30 years in jail after being wrongfully convicted of the rape and homicide of a girl, spent 15 and a half years behind bars. He was later exonerated by DNA proof. Police deployed a “collection of lies” in opposition to him, Swift stated, including that legislation enforcement informed him to falsely admit that he was hiding somebody.
