If your school doesn’t teach anti-racism, start at home

My home state of California, where my daughters go to school, is thankfully not one of them. But even the greenest states could not escape the scourge of racism in the American education system: today, New York, Illinois, and yes, California, are most segregated states in the nation for black students. That’s a reality I’ve experienced firsthand in the Bay Area, where we’re one of the few Black families in the school district – where, at least at the elementary level, there doesn’t seem to be a plan. clear to discuss anti-racism. with an audience willing (and eager!) to learn about it.
