Icestorm Explorer’s Guide – Equipment and Activation Components

Some of the early game missions in Icarus – Livewire terrain scan and Elimination of the Elimination List – takes place in the temperate zone of the planet. However, in the end, you will have to venture into a frozen scene. This is ours Icarus A guide to help you with the Ancestral Exploration Prospect quest, including Device Component locations and Disrupter activation.

Icarus: Mission Guide Outlook Icestorm Expedition – Device Component Location and Disrupter Activation

Before you start the Icestorm Expedition quest in Icarus, make sure you earn more XP to reach level 20. Ideally you’ll want to do this when you can craft a Fur Armor Set. You can also learn some more tips in Biome Arctic Survival Guide.

Device component location #1

Our original goal of the Ancestral Exploration mission in Icarus is to find three Device Components. The first point is located southwest of the dropship (N12). You will pass through a wooded ravine, and you will see a side slope. Open the large container and select the quest item inside.

Southern Glacier

After getting the first ingredient, make sure you’re fully prepared. Though you’re in the temperate zone right now, you’ll soon reach the wasteland and frozen ravines of the Southern Glacier. Try to bring extra food and oxygen as they will be difficult to replenish in this area. However, you can melt ice to turn it into water. Likewise, you can use your pickaxe to hollow out large blocks of rock that act as temporary shelters. If you bring a bed sheet, you can even turn it into a mobile spawn point in case your character dies.

Finally, watch out for polar bears. They are extremely dangerous and although the Ancestral Exploration quest in Icarus appearing early in the game, these enemies are actually 30 to 40 levels higher. If you’ve unlocked the Solo tree talent called Very, Very Quiet, you can try sneaking past these monsters.

Device component location #2

The second gear component can be found on your left ridge when exiting the ravine (N14 / 15).

Device component location #3

The third and final Device component is located just west of your location (M14). You’ll see a blue circle indicating a frozen lake, which means you’re near that location.

Activate Disrupter

Now that you have all three Equipment Components, open your crafting tab. You will be able to create an Acoustic Cavitation Cannon. To activate the Disrupter during the Ancestral Exploration quest in Icarus, you will need to find a sheltered location. It’s useless to build wooden structures here because the blizzard will destroy your belongings, but you can enter the cave north of the M14. Stay at the entrance until the blizzard clears and Be careful with the worms in the cave inside out.

Sadly, even though caves are considered shelters, the Disrupter won’t work while you’re inside. Instead, you can search for a nearby rock. Empty it with a pickaxe and put the Disrupter inside. Press “E” to activate it and wait until it reaches 100%. You can also set up a Campfire and get inside a cramped space to wait for the process to finish. When you’re done, return to dropship to complete your run.

Note: There seems to be a bug that prevents people from receiving monetary rewards if they play offline.
