Humboldt Park mural depicting Neftali Reyes Jr. honors young victims of Chicago gun violence

CHICAGO (WLS) — A brand new mural unveiled Wednesday in Humboldt Park honors all of the younger victims of gun violence throughout Chicago. To date this 12 months, 201 kids have been shot within the metropolis.

“At present we rejoice life, and we bear in mind them,” stated Annette Flores, the mom of Neftali Reyes Jr. He was shot and killed on the age of 19, greater than three and a half years in the past.

Reyes was an aspiring skilled baseball participant. The mural, painted beneath a Humboldt Park viaduct a half a mile from the place he lived, exhibits him as he was in his highschool jersey – a jersey his father wore right this moment.
