How views about abortion have changed over time

Over the past 15 years, support for legal abortion, including that issue, has steadily increased. In 2006, about 39% of Americans said that women can legally have an abortion for any reason. By 2018, that number had grown by 10 percentage points, almost entirely due to growing Democratic support. That year, there was a 35-point gap between the parties in question.
