South Alabama @ number 14 Alabama
Current record: South Alabama 1-1; Alabama 2-0
What to know
#14 Alabama Crimson Tide will again play host and welcome the South Alabama Jaguars to the Coleman Coliseum, which is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday. The Crimson Tide should still be high after the win, while South Alabama will look to get back into the winning column.
Bama strolled through South Dakota State’s Jackrabbits with an empty score last Friday, entering the 104-88 contest. Guard Keon Ellis and protect Jahvon Quinerly was one of the key players for Bama as the former scored a brace with 15 points and 13 rebounds and the latter had 26 points and eight assists along with five goals.
Meanwhile, South Alabama are in striking distance but were unable to close the gap this past Saturday when they fell 64-58 to the Wichita State Shockers. Jay Jay Chandler had a rather forgettable game, ending with just eight points in his 3-to-12 shootout in his 31 minutes on the field.
Bama’s win put them up 2-0 while the Jaguars’ loss dragged them down 1-1. Two last season numbers to keep in mind before starting: The Crimson Tide entered the game with the 15th most points per game in college basketball with 79.7. But South Alabama is 26th in college basketball when it comes to points allowed per game, with just 70.9 averages. We’ll see which of these strengths – offense or defense – will prevail.
