How to Unlock and Use Burning Waves in Tales of Arise – FandomSpot

Incineration Wave is a late game ability that is totally worth your while. It is obtained after unlocking the Unrelenting Blaze title, and then purchasing the Incineration Wave ability for 1520 SP.

It is a Flame Strike skill for Alphen and can be accumulated from several of his Sword Strikes, including Reign Slash, Double Demon Fang, and Eternal Devastation.

It was an extremely powerful engine that could hit any enemy in a straight line in whatever direction Alphen was facing. Fully charging it will cause it to hit enemies with tens of thousands of damage each time.

Note: As a Flame Strike skill, the more charged it is, the more damage it will deal. However, charging Flame Strike also quickly depletes Alphen’s HP. Using Fire Strike is a very high risk/reward based strategy.

Unlock the scorching wave

Step One: Unlock the title Unending Flame

Unfortunately, it will take a long time in the game before you can actually use the Incineration Wave.

To unlock Arte, you must complete the story segment in Berg Volcano and defeat Efreet Malum, the boss encountered at the end of the dungeon.

After doing so, you’ll unlock a new title for Alphen, the Unending Flame.

Step two: Buy the wave of incineration

From here, Arineration Wave arte can be purchased as part of the Unrelenting Blaze title.

It is quite expensive, would be an eye-catching 1520 SP.

Regardless of this, it is totally worth the investment. This takes into account not only its power, but also how it can complement certain Sword Attacks.

Since Incineration Wave is a Flame Strike, it is a bit more versatile than Sword Strikes or Aerial Strikes as it can be paired with a number of different Ground techniques.

These include (but are not limited to) Dominant Slash, Double Devil’s Fang, and Eternal Destruction.

Flame Strikes are not equipped directly but are instead automatically assigned to other types of artes. To use the Incineration Wave, you must equip one of the Sword Strikes that match Alphen’s active Arte set.

Note: You can see which Flame Strike comes with each bird by looking at the ‘Flaming Edge’ section of that creature’s description. If Flame Strike has a yellow font, it is unlocked. If Flame Strike appears grayed out, it’s currently unavailable.

The scorching wave would hit everything in a straight line in the direction Alphen was facing.

It also doesn’t stop after hitting the first enemy, so it will outrun them to hit any other targets in Alphen’s line of sight.

As for personal preference, I always combine it after Dominating Slash.

Reigns Slash wreaks havoc on a single target, so following it with an Incineration Wave will hit the same enemy harder, while also killing any other enemies that are lurking behind them.

One thing to remember about Reign Slash is that it has a very small hitbox.

Therefore, at certain points, you can completely miss the target, causing Alphen to suddenly swing his sword into the air without any effect like a puppet.

However, by hastily following this up with the devastating Wave of Incineration, you can make it seem like it was the plan all along.

If you’re willing to play it pretty quick and loose with Alphen’s HP, feel free to charge the Incineration Wave as much as possible to unleash a truly devastating attack on multiple enemies at once.

Just make sure you have a quick way for Alphen to regain his health through gels or potions!

As Alphen gets more upgrades, some of which increase his damage while at critical health – this is certainly something that can be exploited for the Incineration Wave, as charging Fire Strike is one way very quickly to deplete Alphen’s HP to critical levels.
