Detailed Unlock Guide

Before Nedrick Ironheart’s quest “Spirit of Amdapor” becomes available, you must complete Raubahn’s Main Scenario Quest (MSQ) “The Ultimate Weapon” in Northern Thanalan (X:15.0, Y:16.0).

This is the final quest in the main scenario questline for A Realm Reborn patch 2.0, so you must first complete all MSQs leading to The Ultimate Weapon.

After completing The Ultimate Weapon, travel to Vesper Bay and speak with Nedrick Ironheart in Western Thanalan (X:12.0, Y:14.3). A scion and explorer himself, Nedrick wants to get your adventurer’s heart racing with an exciting challenge.

He will tell you about a ruined fortress called Amdapor Keep in the South Shroud.

A remnant of the Fifth Astral Era, this abandoned fortress hasn’t been so deserted lately. Nedrick wants you to meet a forest plaintiff named Maxinne outside the keep’s entrance to learn more. Go to South Shroud (X:24.7, Y:24.9) and speak to Maxinne.

Nedrick’s recommendation will get through to Maxinne immediately and she will start telling you about the history and current events in Amdapor Keep.

The Keep was a fortress built by the Amdapori, a long-lost civilization from the Fifth Astral Era.

During their glory days, fortresses like Amdapor Fortress were not uncommon.

Unfortunately, the War of the Sages completely wiped out the Amdapori people, leaving once beautiful structures like Amdapor Keep lifeless. Today, the keep has become the lair of a doomsday cult known as The Lambs of Dalamud.

These madmen even managed to drag Voidsents into this world, leading to the Wood Wailers looking for adventurers to put an end to their evil plans.

After talking to Maxinne, Amdapor Keep will be unlocked.

To enter the dungeon you need at least a level 50 Disciple of War or Magic job and an average item level of 45.

Since this dungeon was released in Patch 2.0 a long time ago, you can easily play the dungeon solo if you enter it unsynced with a level 90 or higher character. But if you encounter this dungeon in a compulsory roulette, you must do it synchronized. Let’s take a look at each boss and their respective rewards below:

Boss #1: Mad Priest and Psycheflayer

Lunatic Priest and Psycheflayer bosses / Final Fantasy XIV
Lunatic Priest and Psycheflayer bosses

At the start of the encounter, only the Mad Priest is available. The boss should tank Psycheflayer as soon as it spawns while the rest of the team kills the priest.

Mad Priest

  • thunder: A fast and constant heavy attack on the primary target.
  • Empty Fire II: A telegraphed Circle AoE on a random player. Move out of the AoE as needed.
  • Empty Fire III: A stronger non-telegraphed circle AoE on a random player. This can be interrupted, so use your stun before the spell goes off.
  • cancel call: At around 50% HP, the Mad Priest will start summoning Psycheflayer. This cannot be interrupted, so focus on killing the Priest before turning your attention to Psycheflayer.

  • water: Another fast and constant heavy slam attack on the primary target, similar to Thunder.
  • Thunder of the Void II: A stronger non-telegraphed circle AoE on a random player, similar to Void Fire III. This attack can also be interrupted, so use your stuns.
  • melt spirit: A group-wide AoE attack. Mitigate and heal from the damage.
  • Cancer: The boss randomly targets a player and inflicts them with a “Disease” debuff, reducing their movement speed and HP recovered from healing. Healers should remove this debuff.
  • Revive – Stone Puppet: The boss will attach himself to rock piles in the arena and revive them by summoning a “stone puppet” mob that will attack random players. The tank should collect these mobs while the rest of the party destroys them.
  • Rockslide (stone puppet): A long column of AoE on a randomly targeted player. Leave the AoE to avoid additional damage.
  • Revive – Megalith Puppet: The boss will attach itself to the giant cairn behind it and summon a larger “Megalith Puppet” mob that will roam, dropping huge AoEs in its path. This mob cannot be tanked, has extremely high HP, and recovers from damage almost instantly, so don’t bother hitting it. Instead, focus on killing the boss.
  • Plaincracker (Megalith Puppet): The large puppet throws a large AoE circle around itself every few seconds. Luckily, this AoE doesn’t cover the entire room. The tank should constantly move the boss and additional mobs away from the megalithic puppet.

Boss #2: Demon Wall

Demon Wall Boss / FFXIV

Final Fantasy’s favorite Wall Dweller returns for his first appearance in Final Fantasy XIV! The arena will slowly shrink as the boss pushes forward and parts of the floor turn into a poisonous pool, so watch what you’re doing. They can also fall off the edges of the arena, so be careful where you get knocked back.

  • murder hole: A fast and constant heavy attack on the primary target.
  • Liquefy: Black pillar AoEs will cover the arena in fixed patterns: a large pillar in the center, then large pillars on the left and right. Getting hit by these pillars will inflict you with a “Heavy” debuff, slowing you down. Dodge the first pillar, then move to the safe zone in the middle.
  • Repel: The boss will push players back once the cast starts, and can easily knock you off the edges. Stand in the middle of the arena before the boss finishes casting so you don’t fall off.
  • Empty pitch: At 50% HP, the boss covers the southern part of the arena with “Void Pitch” and inflicts a constant “Pollen” DoT on anyone standing in it. Immediately move out of this poisonous pool after being knocked back by Repel.

Boss #3: Anantaboga

You will notice gargoyle statues scattered around the arena. These statues can be used to avoid multiple space-wide AoE mechanics during the encounter.

  • The look: A frontal cleave attack on the primary target. The tank should face away from the boss of the patty to avoid additional damage.
  • rear wheel drive: A reverse cone AoE that inflicts a “Concussion” DoT debuff. Move towards the boss’s flanks to dodge.
  • foul breath: The boss will use a non-telegraphed frontal cone AoE that inflicts a “Disease” debuff. This debuff slows players down and reduces the healing they receive. Healers can remove this debuff.
  • Imminent Disaster: A very powerful space-wide attack that can easily kill non-tank players. This attack is slow to perform and can be dodged by hiding behind Gargoyle statues around the arena.
  • Dark Helot: The Gargoyle statues in the room can turn into Dark Helot mobs. The tank should pick these up as soon as possible. Because these statues can transform, players have a limited number of statues to hide behind. Kill the boss as quickly as possible or you’ll run out of statues to hide behind during Impending Cataclysm.
  • Terror Eye (Dark Helot): Each Helot can target a random player and drop an AoE circle directly below them. Move out of these if necessary.
  • Triumphant Roar (Dark Helot): The Helots strengthen themselves and increase their damage. This attack is usually followed by Terror Eye.
  • dance of the plague: The boss will bind to a random player. After some time, the player will drop a Dark Nova orb that constantly uses Bubonic Cloud, a room-wide AoE attack. Once tied, drop your Dark Nova orb away from the group, then run behind a statue.
