How to set up a group to trade online in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining pearls provides different ways for players to communicate both locally and online. The newly added group feature is an effective way to find like-minded friends.

Teaming with players will provide some in-game features that aren’t available, but the main reason you’d want to do this is so you can battle or trade with your friends online.

The game doesn’t give players instructions on how to use the group service unless they specifically learn, so you may be wondering how you and your friends can get started and join a group. The process is pretty simple, but there’s a hitch.

To form an online trading group in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining pearls, you must talk to an NPC in Jubilife City who will allow you to create or join a party.

Head to Jubilife City and you’ll notice a green-haired NPC next to the fountain northwest of the Pokémon Center. Talking to them will give you the decision to create or join a group. If you create a group, you will be asked to name the group. For participants, they will need to select the join option before finding the group from the list.

First you need to meet a player in the local room and mix your profile if you want to join their party. If so, you will be in the same group and trade by going to the Global Room and selecting “Yes, with my team”.

Unfortunately, there’s no way to join groups of some people you haven’t met in the Alliance Room, so you’ll need to do that first.
