How to make paper in Spiritfarer – FandomSpot

Paper, or homemade paper, is made by combining sawdust and household glue in the kitchen.

However, you cannot craft this item until prompted later in the game. And Stanley the Ghost will introduce it to you as part of his many requests.

In addition, you must also build the sawmill and kitchen, as well as acquire the kitchen upgrade from Atul the Ghost.

This guide gives you a full breakdown of everything you need to get some paper. Let’s start!

Step 1: Building the Kitchen

You can build more than one kitchen in Spiritfarer / Spiritfarer
You can build more than one kitchen in Spiritfarer.

The first part of this journey starts with building the kitchen, which is also one of the earliest buildings you will need in this game.

The building is first introduced by Gwen (the first ghost Stella encounters) in her request “I Get Cranky When I’m Hungry”.

When you receive this request, you’ll be pleased to find that the kitchen will be unlocked automatically through the Beginner Blueprint Station. These materials are required:

  • 5 Maple protocols
  • 8 bright jellies

Depending on where you are in the game, you most likely already know where to get Maple Logs. If not, then you can get them by chopping down maple trees in Greenhalten Bay, Mosstein Cove, and Berkensheim Creek.

As for the glowing jellies, you can get them from the mini-game that Gwen introduces you to: the Jellyfish event. For a refresher, here are all the jellyfish event locations on the map:

  • Stage 1 – X:80, Y:92
  • Stage 2 – X: 63, Y: 163
  • Level 3 – X: -8, Y: 92
  • Stage 4 – X: -49, Y: 131
Catch as many jellyfish as you can to get Glims (yellow) and Bright Jelly (green) / Spiritfarer

Just catch the green jellyfish for some light jelly until you get the amount you want.

Build the kitchen after collecting all the items and get familiar with the cooking process. Just put some food in the oven and wait for the timer to run out.

Once this is over you can interact with the oven again to collect your food. However, the basic kitchen only allows one ingredient per dish.

Step 2: The Kitchen Improvement

Atul will introduce you to the Kitchen Upgrade / Spiritfarer
Atul introduces you to the kitchen upgrade.

It takes two ingredients to make paper — and that means upgrading the kitchen to be able to combine two things at once.

To do this, simply follow the instructions of the spirit Atul. If you’re early in the game, you can find him in Berkensheim Creek at coordinates X:5, Y:117.

From here it’s just a matter of following his requests until he finally gives you the blueprint to improve the kitchen.

Here are the requirements you should follow, in the order given:

inquiry What to do
Sticky fingers Jump into the pond to retrieve Atul’s lemon.
Welcome on board Say hello to him on the ship.
Seamaster 2000 Fish for Atul aft of the ship.
The drawing board Upgrade the blueprint in Albert’s shipyard.
woodwork Build a sawmill.
The sommelier Open a bottle you fish out of the sea.
Measure twice, cut once Use the sawmill to cut some logs.
Atul’s workshop Build a house for Atul to live in.
movie night Cook some popcorn and give it to Atul.

Once these tasks are completed, you will receive the “Big Stove” request, where Atul will ask you to upgrade your kitchen. Get the blueprint to improve the kitchen here.

After getting this blueprint, you will be asked for these materials:

  • 5 bright jellies
  • 8 flashes in one bottle
  • 12 linen fabrics
  • 0 glows

You can get Lightning in a Bottle from the event Atul introduces you to while Linen Cloth is obtained by weaving Linen Threads in the upgraded version of the Loom.

The Flash in a Bottle Minigame / Spiritfarer

The loom itself is unlocked via the Tinker blueprint station in Albert’s Shipyard, where all upgrades can be purchased.

Step 3: Find Stanley

Next, the ghost Stanley must be found.

As mentioned above, you cannot create homemade paper until a certain spirit requests it. In this case, it’s Stanley, the childlike mushroom spirit you’ll encounter later in the game.

To find Stanley, you need to recruit a maximum of four ghosts into the Everdoor – which is why you can’t find him until later in the game.

After saying goodbye to the spirits, start fishing.

This is because unlike other ghosts in the game, you can The only way to find Stanley is by fishing for a mysterious seed.

This seed can be fished from anywhere on the map, and the odds of finding it right away or not are random.

If you’re not so lucky with seed fishing, it’s easier to buy Francis the Wandering Merchant’s seed. If you find it in his shop, you can buy it for 550 Glims. If not, you need to keep fishing.

After getting the seed, plant it in the garden and wait two and a half days in the game. The seed will grow and Stanley will eventually come out. You can also use the guitar to make it grow faster.

Make sure you water the seed regularly once you plant it/Spiritfarer

Follow Stanley’s pleas

Once Stanley is on board the boat, follow these instructions in the order presented:

inquiry What to do
Big boys room (1) Give Stanley some linen once he takes over the guest bedroom.
Big boys room (2) Give Stanley any item that is in your inventory under the “Tchotchke” category.
Unnamed requirement/dust shadow minigame Complete the Dust Shades mini-game to get Bottled Ectoplasm.
dr Splash’s strange experiments Stanley will ask you to perform a series of “experiments” including:
– Melt old shoe in the foundry
– Destroy three Uncommon items in the Crusher
– Smelted three unusual items in the Foundry
– Thread three unusual items on the loom
(Note that each item can be three at a time, and you can use all of them at once to speed up the process.)

Make homemade paper

You can get Sawdust by cutting any type of log at the Sawmill/Spiritfarer
You can get sawdust by cutting any type of log at the sawmill.

After completing the quests above, it’s time to finally make homemade paper.

Stanley starts the Junior Architectural Designer request asking you to make some paper.

To do this, you will need two materials: household glue and sawdust.

household glue is made by melting the old shoe at the foundry following one of Stanley’s earlier requests. Also, if you run out, you can buy some old shoes from Francis for 8 Glims.

sawdust obtained by cutting any wood in the Lumber Mill. Regardless of whether you do well in the mini-game or not, you will get sawdust with every log.

Note: You can find out everything you need to know about the sawmill in our guide to using the sawmill.

Once you have these two items, just cook them in the kitchen and wait for the timer to run out. Once it does, interact with the oven to get your homemade paper.

You can then hand this paper over to Stanley to complete the request.
