There are many types of combat in the world of Pokemon, but with Dynamax / Gigantamax feature in Pokemon Sword & Shield, players may want to add Machamp to their team. Machamp, along with several other Pokemon in Sword & Shield, there is a unique ability to Gigantamax. However, to get Machamp, the trainer will need to evolve Machoke.

Machoke, like its evolved form, is a pure Battle-type Pokemon. It evolves from Machop at level 28. To get Machamp, the player needs to trade Machoke for other people and exchange it for them.

How to get Machoke in Sword and Shield

The easiest way to get Machoke is to develop Machop. Luckily, the Machop can be found early in the game as a Road 3 Random Encounter. It’s also been discovered in several different areas in the Wild Area (e.g. North and South Lakes. Miloch). Thanks to Camping in Sword & Shield, the player can curry his Machop until it has 2 “Camp Hearts”.

When Machop has enough hearts, it will begin to earn double experience in battle. Coupled with Sharing experiences it has been available since Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! / Let’s Go, Eevee!, Machop will reach level 28 in a relatively short time.

Players who don’t have the time or patience to develop Machop can instead find Machoke in Max Raid Battles in the Wild Area or in Dynamax Adventures. It also appears as a Pokemon that can be seen at Axew’s Eye and Stony Wilderness, and a random encounter at Hammerlocke Hills and Giant’s Seat.

Trading methods have certainly evolved over time with Pokemon. In Sword & Shield, players will be locked from trading/fighting until they get the Pokedex. What follows is a bit more complicated.

Players have two different ways of trading in Generation 8. They can Trade locally or they can use Online Deals. Transactions can be made with a complete stranger or the player can use “Affiliation Code”. Note: Unlike Local Deals, Online Deals requires a Nintendo Online subscription. Here are the differences and how to start them:

Local deals

  1. After getting the Pokedex, open the Y-Comm Menu with Y.

  2. Select Commercial Links; Both players need to do this.

  3. ONLY dealing with a specific person: Players need to enter the same code after selecting “Set Affiliate Code.”
  4. Wait to be connected after closing the menu.

Online Trading

  1. Both players need to have Register for Nintendo Online.

  2. Open the Y-Comm Menu with Y.

  3. Select “Start Trading” to trade with a random person or…

  4. ONLY dealing with a specific person: Use “Set Affiliate Code”.
  5. Close the menu.

Other transaction methods related to Surprise transaction and use Pokemon Home.

Since the goal is to develop Machoke, you should trade with a trustworthy person. There is too much incident of Fraudulent Transaction in Pokemon. The player wants to avoid their Machoke trade and cannot get their fully developed Machamp back.
