The best counter against Violet in Epic Seven is to use Burns or Bombs. Violet’s specialty is dodging most attacks and unleashing devastating counters.
However, multiple burns or bombs can hit him in one shot, reducing the need for longer attacks.
Burns and Bombs against violet
Several Fire Heroes come equipped with debuffs that can defeat Violet.
#1: Iseria by the sea
One of these units is Seaside Iseria. Seaside Iseria’s first skill and artifact apply bombs to a unit. Her skill three will then detonate any bombs cast on all enemies, dealing damage proportional to her attack.
Seaside Iseria’s bombs bypass Evasion.
Also, Seaside Iseria can burn her first skill with the soul once for free at the beginning of the fight, making it easier to use multiple bombs right at the start.
Depending on your Seaside Iseria’s attack stats, one bomb should be enough to knock out any Violette (5k+ attack). But even if you don’t hit him with one shot, he’ll likely be low on health and stunned. This makes it very easy to take him out with your next unit without fear of a counterattack.
Note: The only downside to using Seaside Iseria is that she has to use her ability one more time on Violet to plant bombs. If Violet counters one of these attacks and 15% critically hits your likely weak Seaside Iseria, she may die before you have a chance to detonate the bombs.
#2: Researcher’s Carrot
Researcher Carrot can inflict burns with her third skill before detonating them with her first. Also, her Flame Barrier passive inflicts burns if someone attacks her (which also grants her a shield).
Because of this, it’s very safe to attack a violet, unleash its counterattack, and let it burn itself.
Then all Carrot has to do is attack with her first skill, and if her attack is strong enough, Violet should die instantly.
Other ways to counter purple
Damaging Debuffs are by far the best way to cripple Violet. Even debuffs like Silence are good at slowing him down and preventing him from using Perception with his second skill.
However, if you’re trying to kill Violet before he gets snowballs, here are some other methods to try.
Method 1: Anti-Counter Heroes
Several heroes in Epic Seven are designed to counter heroes that rely on counterattacks.
Roana is less of a violet counter and more of a violet mellower. Her passive increases combat readiness and heals the team whenever a party member suffers an additional attack.
Violet’s constant counterattacks, while strong, are much easier to deflect thanks to Roana.
Rimuru’s Be Ready will counterattack when a buffed enemy attacks your team. Violets often carry Moonlight Dreamblade which means they often have attack buffs. Additionally, Violet’s second skill applies the Uncancellable Perception Buff.
Rimuru will counter Violet when he attacks, copying the attack buff applied by Moonlight Dreamblade.
Tip: This attack will still likely miss unless equipped with the unit’s artifact icon. See below for more information.
Specter Tenebria’s first ability can’t counterattack, making her a great counter against Violet.
Additionally, her permanent cloak prevents Violet from ever attacking her as all of his abilities are single targets.
Mercedes (Magic for Friends)
After upgrading Mercedes and acquiring her specialized artifact, she becomes a formidable antagonist to Violet.
If an ally is attacked during the caster’s non-turn, Mercedes has a 15% chance to activate Dimensional Breach, dealing damage to all enemies.
This can trigger on a counterattack, making it easy to abuse high-spirited Violets.
Lionheart Cermia grants self a Defense Buff and an Effect Resistance Buff when your team takes an extra attack.
She’ll still likely miss if she attacks a Violet, but that should be enough to wipe out the rest of your enemy’s team.
Method 2: Splash/additional damage
Several heroes have the ability to deal indirect damage via their abilities.
This indirect damage is a great way to counter Violet.
Little Queen Charlotte
When Little Queen Charlotte attacks a Dark Hero with her third skill, she deals area damage to all other enemy units based on their attack value.
This area of effect bypasses dodge and if your LQC has a high enough Attack stat, could potentially hit him with one shot.
Rimuru’s third skill deals fixed damage up to 10,000 damage based on the number of buffs the target has.
Note: This fixed damage only applies to successful meets. This means that if you miss the enemy purple, the set damage will not be applied.
Tip: It is recommended to equip your Rimuru with the Unity Symbol to increase the chance of successful hits. See below for more information.
Method 3: An icon of the unit/units with increased hit chance
When breaking the maximum limit, the unit’s Artifact icon increased hit chance by 20% (and damage done by 16%).
This drastically increases your chances of landing a successful hit from Violet’s dodge.
Also, heroes with increased hit chance on their abilities (like Zahhak) are also good counters against Violet.
Note: The Symbol of Unity can be purchased from the Guild Shop for X armbands per copy. You need a total of 6 copies to exceed the maximum limit.
