How to check IVs in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

IV is an important part of competition Pokémon battles. They will directly affect the Pokémon’s performance. Having two identical Pokémon at the same level, the one with the better IV will always be more effective in combat.

There are six different types of stats that each Pokémon can have a perfect IV. These include HP, Attack, Defense, Sp. Atk, Sp. Def and Speed. The highest possible number for each stat is 31.

Competitive Pokémon trainers often try to catch Pokémon with maximum IVs, although this can be difficult, and without the right tools and know-how, you’ll never know if your Pokémon has so what.

  • Excellent: 30
  • Very good: 26 – 29
  • Fair: 16-25
  • Decent: 1-15
  • Not good: 0

Players will often be looking for Pokémon with multiple perfect IVs. The best way to do this is to breed a Pokémon with a high IV, as they can pass on to their offspring with Fate knot.
