Love Island has returned to ITV2 to become a brand new Mallorca villa for the dating show’s eighth season
Whitmore’s husband, comedian Iain Stirling, is also back as the show’s sarcastic narrator.
This season premiere held a twist for the islanders where the audience decided who would come together in the first pairing.
Italian Davide was the first bombshell to enter the villa and stalked in after all the singles hooked up.
He was given 24 hours to meet the women and choose one to pair with himself, putting one of the men at risk of being kicked out of the mansion.
It looks like season eight will be just as conflict-driven as the show’s previous seasons, with discord stitched up from the start.
But how long will Season 8 be on TV, when will the season finale air, will there be a reunion special and how long will the episodes be?
Here’s everything you need to know:
How long will Love Island Season 8 be on TV?
ITV2 hasn’t confirmed exactly how long season eight will last, but it will likely be around eight weeks.
That’s how long the show’s final two summer seasons ran in 2019 and 2021, while the 2020 winter season lasted just six weeks.
The seventh season ran for 49 episodes between June 28 and August 23, 2021, with new episodes airing every day of the week except Saturdays.
Monday through Friday and Sunday episodes show the challenges, pairings, everyday conversations and deep conversations that the islanders have been involved in.
On Saturdays, a special will air unaired footage from throughout the week to give islanders a day off.
The season’s premiere lasted 1 hour 35 minutes, but regular episodes run just over an hour from 9:00 p.m. to 10:05 p.m.
When is the Love Island season 8 finale?
Again, there’s no official confirmation as to when the Love Island season 8 finale will take place, but it will likely be eight weeks after the first episode.
The Season 7 finale on August 23, 2021 was exactly eight weeks after the June 28 premiere.
As Season 8 began on June 6th, the finale is therefore expected to air on Monday August 1st.
The final will see which couple will be crowned Love Island winners and awarded £50,000.
The winning pair will each receive an envelope – one with the £50,000 prize and the other with nothing.
The person with the money must then decide whether to share the prize with their partner or pocket the money for themselves.
Will there be a reunion episode?
A special reunion episode is also expected to air a few weeks after the finale, where the couples from the series will discuss how things have been going outside the villa.
Last year’s painfully awkward reunion took place 13 days after the season finale and aired on Sunday, September 5.
If this pattern continues, this year’s reunion episode should air on Sunday, August 14th.
