How AI targets the bad problem of drug development

A new drug usually takes more than a decade to develop, at a cost of nearly $3 billion. That’s because about 90% of experimental drugs fail in various stages of chemical engineering, or during animal or human testing. So drug manufacturers and investors are spending billions of dollars to augment the search for new treatments using artificial intelligence. Scientists are seeking to discover breakthrough drugs by rapidly identifying new compounds and modeling the complex mechanisms in medicine.
