Horizon Forbidden West Fan Constructs Epic Posable Tallneck Figure

Karen of @kaypeacreations honors Horizon series with the wonderfully graphical construction of the animal-like machine, Tallneck.

Machines of epic proportions roam the land of Horizon, dominating the post-apocalyptic world with sheer might and might. Their highly advanced technology provides players with loads of unique combat challenges that push them to think outside the box to move forward.

These mechanical creatures are definitely one of the most interesting aspects of Horizon , completely unique in their design. Inspired by the intricacies of the machine, a Horizon fans have created a character that can pose the monumental of a Tallneck.

The High neckoriginally seen in the first Horizon game Zero Dawn, is the only Machine that is not hostile to humans. It was a Communication Class machine that could give Aloy more information about the lands around her. Giant in size, giraffe-like, and covered with antennae, it’s one of the most distinctive machines in the game.

Despite the machine’s difficult design, artist and art doll creator Karen’s @kaypeacreations Show your creative skills to recreate it in figure form. As you’d expect from a Tallneck, the character is several feet tall, majestic even on a small scale. The creator even placed a small Aloy figurine on Tellneck’s head, almost as if she only needed to shrink the creature’s neck to overwrite it.

Karen says this project is one of her most complex, motivating her to learn skills in building on a variety of new materials. Initially, she modeled the doll from scratch, cutting pieces of MDF to form a solid structure. Then, a combination of foam and high-density clay forms the basic shapes of the Tallneck, rounding its edges.

What’s particularly interesting about Karen’s process here is her use of cable mesh. The meshing is shaped from clay to a complete machine, adding only the right futuristic texture. Then it’s time to really 3D sculpt the Tallneck’s outer shell. Added a little nod design for the other characters and modify existing beard stylesKaren’s outer armor pieces are meticulously crafted to every detail.

Once printed, she spent hours sanding and painting each individual piece. While incredibly time-consuming, her end results are simply stunning. Overall, the armor has a beautiful weathered metal look that adds realism to the fantasy machine.
